Michigan Sugar Trails - Trail Crew Member Volunteer Season: April 15th (approx.) - October 15th (approx.) Time Commitment: Approximately 5-10 hours per month
The Michigan Sugar Trails are located on 26 acres on Middlegrounds Island in Bay City, Michigan. When completed, the Sugar Trails will consist of singletrack trails for beginner, intermediate, and skilled riders and will include a skills area. A video of the current trail can be found at the bottom of this page.
As a Michigan Sugar Trail Crew Member, you will be responsible for building singletrack with a variety of tools while following International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) trail building guidelines. Crew Members will be issued SBLC trail building equipment and personal protective gear and will be responsible for the storage and maintenance of provided equipment throughout the field season.The Michigan Sugar Trails trail crew will be out in the field approximately 5-10 hours a month and are welcome to ride the trails with fellow mountain biking enthusiasts after the trail building activity is done for the day.

Assignment schedule will vary due to weather, trail building can occur during daylight hours throughout the summer and early-fall at the volunteer’s convenience while SBLC staff are on the property.
