Saginaw Bay Coastal Wildlands - Saganing Trailhead

Location: Arenac County
Year Acquired: 2006
Size: 38 acres

The Saginaw Bay Coastal Wildlands - Saganing Trailhead, formerly the Saganing Nature Preserve, is home to a dense woodland area and the delta wetland of the Saganing River, which can be accessed on foot from the parking area. The majority of this landscape is very thick, wetland habitat with no established trails due to the relatively high water table. Primarily held to help increase water quality by filtering stormwater runoff before it enters the Saginaw Bay, the property’s delta wetland habitat is also an important sanctuary for migratory birds and wetlands plants and animals. The property is perhaps best enjoyed in winter, especially for snowshoeing.

How to get to Saginaw Bay Coastal Wildlands - Saganing Trailhead:

The property can be accessed by turning east off Arenac State Road onto Worth Road. Drive all the way to the end past the casino and park near the gate gate.

Recreational opportunities include hiking, wildlife observation, snowshoeing and fishing.
