Hunting Prohibited on SBLC nature preserves

Hunting is no longer permitted on any Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy property, including all Conservancy Nature Preserves. The Conservancy board of directors made the difficult decision to remove hunting from the list of permitted activities on Conservancy-owned land after a series of flagrant violations of Conservancy policy and Michigan State Hunting Regulations. While we understand that the vast majority of hunters remain ethical, rule-abiding, and conservation-focused, several incidents concerning individuals who chose to endanger themselves and other visitors have made this decision the only option at this time.

These regulations will be reviewed annually and may be amended to best suit the ecological and recreational objectives of each respective property.

The only exception to this prohibition remains managed hunts with our program partner, Outdoor Driven, a veteran and first responder service organization dedicated to helping individuals who have served our country and community and may be suffering from PTSD. These hunts are limited to the south parcel of Wah Sash Kah Moqua and Saganing Nature Preserves, and all hunts are managed by Outdoor Driven guides and personnel.

No other hunting or trapping is permitted on any Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy property.
